From Scott Henderson, a steam bent wood chair with a clever interlocked structure that uses tension and compression to suspend the seat.
“The Slat Chair is a clever interlocked structure using tension and compression. Two semi-circular polished stainless steel rods are interlocked by a tight steam bend on both ends of a molded aircraft grade birch veneer ‘slat’ and held in tension. The Slat Chair’s seat is suspended in the negative spaces between the base slats that also form the back support. The end result is a highly sculptural light-weight chair, the concept for which is applicable to other furniture pieces.”
